OFV: Chequamegon (2010)
September 17-20, 2010 Organized by Corinne
It is time again for the Daily’s to plan our weekend get together. We will be spending a lovely weekend in Northern Wisconsin at the 28th annual Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival. For those of you not in the ‘know’, this is a mountain biking festival/race held in Cable WI the weekend of September 18.
This is a very popular event, and riders are accepted by lottery. I was thinking it would be best if we sign up as an “Olson Family” team so we either all get accepted or denied together, So far we know that Denny, Jamie and Tammy plan to sign up, but the more the merrier. The deadline for submitting our applications is March 15th, and we need to send them all in 1 envelope, so if you’re interested in riding please fill out the entry form and get it to Denny by the 10th of March so he can get it and the entry fee sent in. NOTE: Make sure you sign up for the Short & Fat unless you really want to go through 40 miles of extreme torture.
Here’s the plans for the remainder of the weekend
Friday, Sept 17th
Drive up to Cable, WI. There is a ride put on by the CAMBA trail association around noon that Denny really likes to do, they take you out on the woods single track riding. The cost is approx $5, and you’re entered for a raffle of fabulous biking prizes.
We are looking at staying at a cabin on Lake Namakagon, please take a look at the couple of options and let us know what you think. Both of the cabins are right on the lake, so we could go boating, fishing, etc

Saturday, Sept 18 - Bike Race for riders, cheering and picture taking for everyone else. Then lunch/dinner at Coops Pizza in Hayward.
Sunday, Sept 19 - Open for site seeing, shopping, fishing, or more biking for those who didn’t get enough the day before.
Monday, Sept 20 - Drive home
This is a really fun and pretty area and I think we’ll have a great time for the weekend. Please get back to us on the race entries and which cabin you’d prefer so that we can finalize the reservations.
Also, being this is a race, we’ll need to look like a team. We were thinking it would be fun to design a unique bike Jersey that everyone could wear for the big day. Jamie has graciously volunteered to obtain designs for us, Denny and I will be looking into a place to have them made. Please let us know if you have any info that could help with this project.
