Why isn’t it common to have a tunnel from your detached garage to the basement of your house?

  1. Cost and Logistics.
    Unless you go with a Hogan’s Heroes design, you are going to need concrete lining, drainage, ventilation.
    And just imagine the look on Mrs Thing’s face when she has to carry the groceries down a flight of stairs, then up a flight of stairs to avoid what could be accomplished by a simple breezeway.
    Dont get me wrong, I feel an intricate system of tunnels and bunkers adds to the resale value of any home, I just dont think its practical.
